Quick Start
Preview one character and one outfit before integrating a full equipment system. This makes it easier to check the body fit, materials, and animation independently.
Open the content#
Use the Unreal Engine version supplied for your purchased release. The authoring project for this guide uses Unreal Engine 5.1; check the product listing for the versions available to you.
In the Content Browser, open:
/Game/ROG_Modular_Assets
Unreal displays this path under Content/ROG_Modular_Assets. Wait for shader compilation to finish before judging the appearance of the materials.
Find an overview map#
The project contains these maps under ROG_Modular_Assets/Maps:
| Product area | Map |
|---|---|
| Armor | ROG_Armor_Overview |
| Accessories and Robes | ROG_Accessories_Overview |
| Clothing | ROG_Clothing_Overview |
Open the map for the content you want to inspect. Your purchased package may contain only its relevant product area and dependencies.
For the interactive demo, check World Settings → GameMode Override against the demo supplied with that release, then press Play. In the Armor and Accessories demo examples, Tab toggles the selector interface. Use the character selector first, then choose equipment from that character's available catalog.
Preview an idle pose and a moving animation. Check the shoulders, elbows, waist, and knees for intersections before adding more layers.
Transfer assets into your game#
- Open the source project and select the meshes or demo assets you want in the Content Browser.
- Choose Asset Actions → Migrate.
- Keep their required materials, textures, skeletons, and other dependencies in the Asset Report.
- Select the destination project's Content directory.
- Open the destination project and check the imported assets and Blueprint references.
This is Unreal's asset migration workflow. Migration copies content dependencies; handle any required code plugins separately.
Keep your modified Blueprints and material instances in your own project folder. This makes it easier to install later pack updates without replacing your custom work.
Check plugin dependencies#
The authoring project enables ROG_ModularEquipment alongside editor tools. If your downloaded project requests a missing plugin, check the release's installation instructions and the affected Blueprint dependencies before changing its configuration. The asset migration operation does not install engine plugins.
Your first integration#
Select one equipment mesh from the folder for your character, inspect its Skeleton in the Skeletal Mesh Editor, and attach it using the appropriate animation setup in Characters and animation. Once it follows your character correctly, add the outfit selection flow from Equipment and data tables.
