Versions and Documentation Sources

This draft covers the planned 6.0 update to Armor and Accessories and the new Clothing pack. The older guide describes version 5.3 and includes historical UE4 workflows, character support, and a different equipment type numbering scheme.

Previous release#

The previous ROG Modular Armor documentation identifies its current release as 5.3 for UE5.1+, dated 8 April 2023.

That release lists skinning and cloth simulation fixes for Manny and Quinn, Universal Character Customization System, Character Customizer, and UE4 Mannequin. The document also preserves a longer update history dating back to 2020.

Use that history to identify behavior from an older downloaded package. Current folder names, fitted variants, and table structures can differ.

Equipment rules#

The supplied Equipment Mesh Naming and Compatibility Rules contains a naming and compatibility reference. Its columns describe slot prefixes, Type prefixes, equipment types, hidden body regions, hidden equipment, and activated morphs.

Use Naming reference and Outfit compatibility for the reorganized English explanation of those rules.

Comparing asset counts#

When comparing a release's contents, distinguish unique item designs from appearance variants and character-specific skeletal meshes. A single design can produce multiple assets for different bodies and materials.

Also distinguish equipment meshes from base bodies, simulation proxies, static meshes, and Blueprint or material assets. The contents of a combined authoring project can be larger than the package for one product. Use the specification for your purchased release when checking its advertised counts.

Catalog and asset counts contains the corrected reference totals and their definitions from the supplied inventory discussion.
