Custom Slots and Body Parts

Extend the configured tag mappings to add equipment slots, body regions or item types. These are configuration tasks; the plugin still uses components and morph targets prepared by your project.

Add an equipment slot#

For a custom ring slot:

  1. Register the Gameplay Tag ROG.EquipmentSlot.Ring in your project.
  2. Add a Skeletal Mesh Component to the character for the ring. Configure its fit and animation.
  3. Give the component a unique Component Tag, for example CLOTH_RING.
  4. Add an Equipment Slots mapping from ROG.EquipmentSlot.Ring to CLOTH_RING.
  5. Create a numeric item row with its mesh and Equipment Type, such as the custom tag ROG.EquipmentType.Ring.
  6. Request that ID with Slot set to ROG.EquipmentSlot.Ring.
  7. Add visibility or morph rules only where the new item needs them.

Use a fresh actor after changing discovery mappings. The plugin does not automatically create the ring component or validate that a ring item was requested in the ring slot.

Add a body region with Material Slot#

For a custom finger region, register ROG.BodyPart.Finger. Add an entry in Material Slot Body Parts mapping it to the exact finger material slot name on the main body mesh. Add rules targeting that body tag.

The mesh must contain a separately controllable material section for the region. A new tag alone cannot subdivide its geometry. The mapping uses the material slot name, not a numeric index.

Add a body region with Combined Mesh#

Register ROG.BodyPart.Finger, prepare a separate Skeletal Mesh Component, and give it a tag such as BODY_FINGER. Add the corresponding Mesh Body Parts mapping and the necessary visibility rules.

Keep its Component Tag distinct from the main body tag and from equipment discovery tags.

Add an item subtype#

Register a descendant tag, for example ROG.EquipmentType.Pants.Short. Use it as Equipment Type in a numeric row. The existing parent tag ROG.EquipmentType.Pants already matches it.

For visibility exceptions, place a child-specific rule above a broad parent rule. For morph overrides, place the general rule first and the child-specific rule later. See Visibility rules and Morph rules.
