NPC Presets

Use Preset Items on Modular Equipment Component to define the NPC's default outfit. Each array entry contains a positive numeric Cosmetic ID and a slot Gameplay Tag.

Configure a preset#

  1. Prepare the NPC's mesh components and discovery tags.
  2. Select Modular Equipment Component and add entries to Preset Items.
  3. Choose the Female setting that matches the intended equipment variant.
  4. Save the Blueprint or level containing the edited instance.
  5. Start Play and confirm the outfit on the spawned NPC.

At BeginPlay, authority applies Preset Items if the desired outfit is empty. Clients use replicated state. Presets are defaults; runtime equipment changes do not rewrite the stored preset.

Included editor utility#

The plugin includes EUW_EquipNPC at:

/ROG_ModularEquipment/ModularEquipmentUtils/EUW_EquipNPC

Enable Show Plugin Content in the Content Browser to locate the asset. Run it as an Editor Utility Widget for outfit authoring. Save the affected level or Blueprint after editing and confirm the preset after reopening.

Editor scripting#

The editor library provides Set Preset Item and Remove Preset Item for tools that modify Preset Items. They preserve the other slots and create an editor transaction so changes can participate in Undo and Redo. Their Boolean result is true when a change is applied; false can mean unchanged input or an invalid editing target.

These functions target an actor's component instance in an Editor or Editor Preview world. They are not runtime setters and do not edit class template objects directly. Use Set Cosmetic Slot and Clear Slot during gameplay.
